What is the minimum password strength? How can I make my password strong?

When creating a new password, be sure that it is at least 6 characters in length and that you use a complex string of numbers, letters, and punctuation marks. If the password you entered is not strong enough, you may want to try mixing uppercase and lowercase letters or making your password longer.

Ideally, the password you select should be easy for you to remember but hard for someone else to figure out. For added security, your Facebook password should also be different than other passwords that you use on the internet.

The "words in the box" (i.e., captchas) doesn’t load.

Your problem is most likely related to your internet browser. We recommend that you upgrade your browser, or clear its cache and cookies, by following these instructions. If you continue to experience problems, please click here.

It says my email address is invalid.

nfortunately we do not support email addresses with generic prefixes (e.g. info@, webmaster@ etc.). Since email addresses of this nature are typically used for organizations and businesses, we do not allow them to be used for personal Facebook accounts. You will need to use a personal email address that does not contain this type of prefix. There are no exceptions to this rule.

It says there is an existing account associated with my email address.

  • Your name must be listed using characters from one language only.
  • Your name cannot consist of any titles, symbols, numbers, unusual capitalization, or punctuation.

I'm trying to register a presence for a business, product, or public figure: We do not allow these entities to maintain personal profiles, but you can create a Facebook Page. Pages can only be created to represent a real public figure, artist, brand or organization, and may only be created by an official representative of that entity. Find out more about Facebook Pages.

I received an email that I created a new Facebook account, even though I didn’t sign up for a new account.

If you have received a Facebook account confirmation email in error, it's likely that someone has mistakenly attempted to register using your email address. As long as you do not click the link contained in the email, this account will remain unconfirmed. An unconfirmed account can remain on the site for a maximum of three days. While this account is unconfirmed, it will not be able to send messages, write on friends’ Walls, post in discussions, poke, tag friends in photos or notes, comment on content, join groups, or like Pages. After three days without confirmation from the owner of the email address, the account will become inaccessible.

If someone has created an account to impersonate or imitate you, please go to the impostor profile and click "Report/Block this person" at the bottom of the left column. Check the "Report this Person" box, choose "Fake Profile" as the reason, and add "Impersonating me or someone else" as the report type. Be sure to add a valid web address (URL) leading to the real profile so that we can review the information.

Why am I getting a Facebook invitation email from a friend?

You received this email because a Facebook member is inviting you to join Facebook. Facebook allows members to send invites to their contacts by entering an email address or by uploading their contacts.

If you're already registered for Facebook, your friend may have submitted an email address of yours that is not currently linked to your Facebook account. If you'd like to, you can add this email address to your existing Facebook account to ensure that you won't get Facebook invites sent to you in the future.

If you are not already a Facebook member and would like to join, you can use this email to start the registration process.

If you wish to no longer receive invites from your friends, you can use the unsubscribe link in the footer of the email.
